Kemaman is expected to flood again

KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 29- Several areas in the Kemaman district are expected to be flooded again following the continuous severe rain warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) this afternoon.

According to a statement from the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, the locations expected to be affected are low-lying areas within a five-kilometer radius from Sungai Tebak at the Tebak Bridge.

The areas expected to be affected are Kampung Teladas, Kampung Air Putih, Kampung Dadong, Kampung Batu 16 Tebak, as well as Air Putih Bridge.

Flooding is forecast to take place from today until Tuesday's midnight, but PRABN said it could occur earlier or later than the expected date.

In a related development, the Kemaman observation station reported that the sea level is expected to rise between 3.2 and 3.5 meters from January 1st to 6th.

Readings at the Kuala Terengganu observation station showed that the sea level reached between 2.5 and 2.7 meters, specifically around 10.30pm to 1am.
