KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13- The proposal to implement the multi-lane fast flow (MLFF) toll payment system is still at the discussion stage with several related parties.

Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said once completed, the proposal will be presented to receive feedback and decisions on the matter.

He added that before its implementation, the MLFF needs to take into account various aspects including costs involved and interests of PLUS shareholders which are the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) and Khazanah Nasional Berhad.

"For a single-use MLFF, it is quite difficult to implement because there are 33 highway concessions of approximately 20 kilometers in distance, half of which are owned by PLUS.

"PLUS is 51 percent owned by EPF - those who have EPF indirectly own PLUS - while 49 percent is owned by Khazanah.

"So for this MLFF, a cabinet paper will be presented soon in order to get a follow-up analysis," he said.

He was answering a question raised by Kapar's Member of Parliament, Dr. Halimah Ali in Dewan Rakyat.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Ahmad informed that the Ministry of Public Works (KKR) has appointed PBH Asset Management Sdn. Bhd. (PBH Asset) to carry out maintenance work on the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak for a period of three years starting in September last year.

The contract involves a total allocation of RM69 million.

He added that if the company fails to perform its duties, it will be penalised with a possible legal action taken.

KKR also provides a pavement maintenance programme based on the notice of damage (NOD) posted by the maintenance company.
