The President of Indonesia makes official visit to Malaysia today

PUTRAJAYA, January 9 - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, will make his first official visit to Malaysia today since taking office last October.

Wisma Putra stated that the visit reflects the special relationship between the two countries, underpinned by strong cooperation in various fields, including economy, socio-culture, defense, and security.

During the visit, Prabowo is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The two leaders will discuss bilateral cooperation and explore new potential collaborations to strengthen the ties between the two nations.

With Malaysia assuming the role of ASEAN Chair this year, both leaders are also expected to exchange views on efforts to enhance ASEAN Community Building, as well as regional cooperation and addressing global challenges.

In 2023, the Republic of Indonesia was Malaysia's seventh-largest trading partner globally and the third-largest among ASEAN member countries, with a total trade of RM111.21 billion.

From January to October 2024, bilateral trade reached RM95.50 billion, compared to RM94.37 billion during the same period in 2023.
