The My SRS application to be launched in March

JPNIN Director General, Datuk Che Roslan Che Daud

KOTA BHARU, Jan 20- The Department of National Unity and National Integration (JPNIN) will launch the My SRS application in March.

Its Director General, Datuk Che Roslan Che Daud said, the application will be used by members of the Voluntary Patrol Scheme (SRS) throughout the country to improve the effectiveness of the SRS to carry out patrol duties.

He said that the application is currently in the development stage and is expected to be fully completed in March.

With the application, SRS members can find out the whereabouts of members while conducting patrols.

In addition, he said the application also connects directly with the Royal Malaysian Police through the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol, in the event of a crime at the patrol location.

"We are developing an application and it is expected to be ready in March. An application which we will put in the mobile phone and be downloaded by all our SRS members."

"When they go on patrol, we will note the location of the patrol, their schedule and movements will also be easy to track. It is hoped that, if there are no obstacles in March, it can be expanded," he said.

He said this to reporters after completing the SRS Integrated Patrol Program and the '1 Family 1 SRS Member' Campaign of the Pengkalan Chepa Parliamentary KRT, last night.

Commenting further, Datuk Che Roslan said, this year the Ministry of National Unity provided a special allocation to SRS of more than RM3 million.

He said that the allocation involves the supply and replacement of SRS security facilities with an estimate of RM837,500 which will benefit 119 Neighbourhood Watchs.

In addition, he said, a total of RM2.175 million was also allocated for the supply of 69 new SRS cabins and RM231,692 for the repair of existing cabins in 18 SRS areas.

He hopes that the provision given can increase the activity and effectiveness of SRS in the community.

The allocation also aims for the frequency of control activities and SRS patrols to be increased, as well as increase the involvement of young people in SRS.
