Johor schools prepare to reopen in February after flood impact

ohor's Executive Council member for Education and Information, Aznan Tamin

JOHOR BAHRU, January 20 - Schools in Johor that were previously affected by floods or used as temporary evacuation centers (PPS) are now ready to start the new school session scheduled for February.

Johor's Executive Council member for Education and Information, Aznan Tamin, stated that the use of school facilities during the flood season was satisfactory and went well due to the cooperation of school staff.

"The new school session will begin in mid-February. Preparations at the school level regarding program implementation, venue setup, and former PPS locations are going well.

"Thank God, everything is fine. Schools that served as PPS have experience, so there are no issues in providing a good environment before the new school session starts," said Aznan.

He spoke to reporters after being a guest on the JOHOR.FM radio station here.

Previously, 21 schools in Johor were affected by floods, and 94 school facilities were used as PPS.

A total of 285 students in the state were also recorded as affected last week.
