KUALA LUMPUR, October 24th- The Ministry of Health will implement the procurement of CT Scan and MRI machine services on a rental or leasing basis, in an effort to speed up the appointment period for patients to obtain an early diagnosis of cancer.
Its Deputy Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni also informed that a system of working in shifts will be put into effect, for clinical radiology specialists at 10 hospitals which currently have a high workload and long waiting time.
He added that until September 2024, all state hospitals and major specialist hospitals have been equipped with CT Scan services which are 85 units, whereas minor specialist hospitals have been equipped with 17 units of CT Scan machines.
MRI services are available in all state hospitals and at 24 major specialist hospitals which are lead hospitals to the minor and non-specialist hospitals in their respective cluster hospitals.
He said this after answering a question from Datuk Dr Alias Razak, a Kuala Nerus Member of Parliament, in the Dewan Rakyat today.
