The impact of Veveonah's viral video, internet coverage in Sabah interior improving

SHAH ALAM, Dec 30- The determination of student Veveonah Mosibin who once went viral for climbing a tree to get internet coverage to sit for an online exam in 2020 has attracted the attention of many.

The holder of a degree in Marine Science from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) said the positive impact of the video has borne fruit as evidence that internet coverage facilities in rural areas are improving.

"After the video went viral, it became helpful to the community. Previously, there were places, especially where I was living, that did not have electricity and internet connection.

"Thank you also to the lecturers who shared the video. Now there is indeed development in terms of infrastructure and the internet. The roads in my village are getting better," she told RTM.

The viral video opened the eyes of many parties regarding Veveonah's persistence to continue studying despite experiencing various constraints.

"My main motivation is my family because I am from a B40 family. So I see the hardships of life in my area.

"In addition, my teachers and lecturers gave me a lot of advice to focus on my studies," she added.

The youngest of five siblings successfully completed her Marine Science studies at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), and is now moving on to the medical field at Management and Science University (MSU).

"My sister is also my motivation even though she is not a pure science major. She also successfully completed a four-year nursing degree and is now working in the same field," he said.

Until now, Veveonah's story is still viral and becoming a topic of conversation, thus becoming a role model for the younger generation.
