Sultan of Perak receives RM3 million in business tithe

The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, agreed to receive business tithe payments of more than RM3 million in a Tithe Handover Ceremony held at Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar

KUALA KANGSAR, March 16 - The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, agreed to receive business tithe payments of more than RM3 million in a Tithe Handover Ceremony held at Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar.

The tithe payments involved five corporate companies and were handed over to the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk).

The ceremony began with the handover of tithe by Boustead Plantation Sdn. Bhd represented by Chief Financial Officer, Nina Wirasatria Md Husni with a total of RM250,676 followed by the handover of individual income tithe by Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal with a total of RM2.4 million.

Empayar Indera Sdn. Bhd represented by general manager Datuk Hasrin Abdul Rahman, Perbadanan Aset Keretapi represented by Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Azhar Ahmad and Public Islamic Bank Berhad represented by Chief Executive Officer, Syamsul Azuan Ahmad Fauzi each handed over tithe payments of RM200,000.

Sultan Nazrin also agreed to attend the breaking of fast event with the media, NGOs, corporate and private sectors, GLCs and youth.

Also present were Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and representatives from government, private and NGO agencies.
