PUTRAJAYA, January 3 - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim described the government's efforts to strengthen governance at various levels as a success for the MADANI Government.

He said this can be seen when there has been no scandal or case that can be blamed on the government in the past two years.

"I want to say that in the past two years, I thank God because we have conducted a transparent tender process and not a single major scandal has been revealed in the past two years.

"For me, this is a bigger success. We have the capacity and cannot solve all the problems, this country is a country of law and we must make decisions based on good governance", he said.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Anwar also ordered all basic programs and projects for the people who are in dire need such as eradicating extreme poverty and flood mitigation to be expedited.

He said that the projects that take a long time to complete need to be revamped and completed in the shortest possible time.

"I agree in the discussion, we should revamp all of them, if the flood is costing lives, costing property, there is no need to wait for six years.

"So, this is something that must be examined by all KSUs (Ministry Secretaries-General). If not, the new KSUs come, then look at the flood scheme for flood mitigation (for example) phase 1 of Rantau Panjang (Kelantan) has been completed, phase two in 2026, phase three in 2029. So, the people of Rantau Panjang have to wait another 15 years to complete", he said.

He said this when delivering the 2025 New Year's Message at a meeting with staff of the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) in Putrajaya.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
