JERTIH, January 3 - A 13-year-old male student died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with another motorcycle in Kampung Bukit Jeruk in Jabi, last night.
Acting Besut District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Md Sani Md Saleh said the victim is believed to have suffered serious injuries to his body while the other motorcyclist was also seriously injured.
"The accident occurred at about 7.10 last night causing the victim to die at the scene.
"Investigations found that the student involved was riding a motorcycle from the direction of Kampung Benting Lintang to Kampung Bukit Jeruk and is believed to have suddenly lost control.
"This caused the victim to collide with a 20-year-old man on another motorcycle from the opposite direction," he said in a statement late last night.
He said the student's body had been sent to the Besut Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem.
"Meanwhile, the other motorcyclist who was seriously injured in the thigh and head was also sent to the same hospital before being referred to the Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) Hospital Kubang Kerian, Kelantan for further treatment," he said.
