BINTULU, August 7 - The Sarawak government has shown a high commitment to early childhood development through the implementation of various programmes and initiatives, including the establishment of the Sarawak Early Childhood Development Council (MPAKS) under the Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Child Development.
Member of the Tanjong Batu State Legislative Assembly, Johnny Pang said, in order to ensure that every child in Sarawak grows up in a healthy, happy and balanced environment, the state government has drawn up various activities and programmes including the Children's Potential Day at Tabika KEMAS Zone 5 organised by the KEMAS Department which emphasises the importance of sports for the physical and mental development of children.
"Sports are not only for teenagers and adults, but children also have the right to play sports at an early age.
"Sports activities help in the development of their fine and gross motor skills, as well as building discipline and self-confidence," he said during the closing of Tabika KEMAS Children's Day Ceremony at the Zone 5 level in the Auditorium this morning.
In the meantime, Johnny urged government agencies, educational institutions, NGOs and the communities to work together to cultivate sports as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Through such programmes, the government hopes to produce a more active, healthy, and competitive young generation in Sarawak, in line with the state's development vision.
The contingent of Tabika KEMAS of the Limbang Parliament was crowned the overall Champion for the ceremony which took place on August 5 until today.
A total of 267 children from Tabika KEMAS Zone 5 participated in Zone 5 Level Children's Potential Day, 2024.
