KUALA LUMPUR, 31 July - Six special teams were established to empower the country’s education direction under educational reform.
That includes establishing a Special Task Force on Curriculum Intervention.
Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said, the team is responsible for the issue and problem that involves establishing curriculum existing besides preparing curriculums for Malay, English, Science and Mathematics Level I.
"Recently the Ministry of Education (KPM) has held the 2027 School Curriculum Roadshow involving 10 locations across the country from 23 February 2024 to 27 July 2024.
“This roadshow is to spread information related to the 2027 School Curriculum widely and get the public's opinion about this new intervention in 2027 School Curriculum”, said while answering a question from Senator Datuk Mustafa Musa in Parliament.
Mustafa asked questions regarding the implementation status and input from the parents and schools initiatives to realign the primary education curriculum so that mastery of Malay and English is enhanced and instill a high interest in the fields of science and mathematics.
At the same time, MoE took proactive steps to strengthen the STEM Education Strengthening Initiative under the Malaysian Education Development Plan 2013-2025 to instill students' interest in science and mathematics.
In the meantime, he was also informed that the admission of students in the field of Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology (STEM) continues to show an increase.
It was proven when the recruitment rate jumped to 50.83 percent this year compared to 40.95 percent in 2021.
"I believe in the efforts of MoE in promoting STEM and have programs and activities related to STEM.
"Then we can help to foster our children's interest in science subjects and overall in stem," he said.
In order to engage students' interest in the field, KPM encourages project-based learning and problem solving to attract students' interest.
In addition, teacher efficiency and strengthening of teaching and learning activities (PdP) inside and outside the classroom will be improved.
