KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8- Sis members of the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) were injured in an explosion near Saida Stadium, Lebanon, yesterday.
The incident occurred while the MALBATT 850-12 team was travelling from Beirut to Marakah Camp.
The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) headquarters in a statement said the explosion targeted a civilian vehicle heading to Beirut and also caused damage to a bus transporting MALBATT 850-12 personnel.
"Five MALBATT 850-12 personnel suffered various minor injuries, with one member sustaining a suspected closed fracture to the left arm. The MALBATT member who sustained the arm injury was immediately taken to Hamood Hospital in Saida for treatment," said the statement.
"The MAF will continue to closely monitor the this situation and will provide updates on the incident from time to time."
The first deployment of the MALBATT 850-12 team, consisting of 220 officers and members of other ranks, began WEDNESDAY and will continue in stages until 18 November as part of their peacekeeping mission under the United Nations in Lebanon.
Meanwhile the Lebanese army said the Israeli drone strike killed three people, all of them passengers in the targeted vehicle.
"Three Lebanese soldiers manning the Sidon checkpoint were also wounded."
