SHAH ALAM, Nov 22- Selangor is open to feedback from all parties and is committed to reviewing eligibility requirements to ensure the continued enhancement and effective implementation of the free water scheme, Skim Air Darul Ehsan (SADE).
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said that among the proposals being considered is to increase the household income limit for free water scheme from the current RM5,000.
He said, "We have approximately 319 thousand households who benefit from the SADE and we have received 340,000 registrations. This means that there are approximately 20,000 applications that do not meet the requirements."
“I am open to suggestion that we probably need to increase the the current limit of RM5,000. We will review it and may consider increasing it to RM7,000 or RM8,000, depending on the announcement we will make,” he said during the State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.
He was responding to a question from Sijangkang assemblyman Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi about the performance and achievements of the programme under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) initiative.
According to the Menteri Besar, the State Government is opening the registration for the scheme to ensure that the initiative is only given to households that are truly qualified.
Previously, the state government estimated that 600,000 accounts would register for the 20-cubic-meter free water scheme initiative per month.
