Sarawak floods: PPS Rumah Steven continues to operate for the sixth day

KUCHING, Jan 28- A total of 34 flood-affected residents in Sarawak are still sheltering in the temporary relief center (PPS) Rumah Steven in Tatau district.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, the PPS has been open since January 23rd, after the Sekolah Kebangsaan Kuala Muput area was hit by floods.

"Seven monitoring locations in the Sebauh district, which is adjacent to Tatau, also recorded an increase in water levels and are being monitored by the committee.

"In addition, 10 locations in Matu and four locations in Kuching also recorded rising water levels," the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said.

Four monitoring stations run by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, located at Giam Pasang B in Kapit, Long Teru, Marudi and Nanga Lemai B in Sibu, recorded water levels above the dangerous level.
