KUALA LUMPUR, February 6 – The Ministry of Defence will address questions regarding the lease of 28 AW139 helicopters valued at RM16.6 billion on February 20.

Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin confirmed he will provide clarification on the matter during the upcoming winding-up session in the Dewan Rakyat.

He noted that the benefits of this approach were previously discussed during the winding-up of the 2025 Budget (Policy Stage) and addressed by the Prime Minister during oral question sessions in the Dewan Rakyat on November 28, 2024.

"However, I will offer further comments and respond again during my ministry's winding-up session on February 20," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Opposition Leader raised concerns on Tuesday about the leasing deal, highlighting that it seemed significantly larger than the purchase of 32 similar helicopters by other countries.
