KUALA LUMPUR, August 23 – The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, urged Muslims in the country not to entrust responsibilities to those involved in corruption and abuse of power.

His Royal Highness said this action is to prevent tarnishing the image and sanctity of Islam.

"The greatness of Islam should be highlighted through work culture, social activities, economic achievements, and political ethics.

"The Muslim community must resolutely reject any behavior that could tarnish the reputation of the ummah and the sanctity of Islam by not entrusting responsibilities to those who are immoral, hypocritical, those who have weak morals and low character, involved in corruption and abuse of power, as well as those who are untrustworthy and insincere," he said when chairing the 72nd meeting of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs of Malaysia (MKI) in the nation's capital.

His Royal Highness, who is Chairman of MKI, said the past grandeur of Islam has left behind a remarkable legacy and high ideals, however, progress for any community cannot rely solely on legacy and ideals.

To transform the quality of the Muslim community towards a more progressive future, we must foster a narrative rooted in realism and forward-thinking.

"The survival of the Muslim ummah must be built through strengthening mental resilience and instilling confidence to compete and excel until the ummah has no prejudices when interacting with non-Muslims," he said.

Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Deputy Chairman of MKI, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Nai'im Mokhtar, and MKI members from across the country.
