Police ensure safety and smooth traffic for Thaipusam celebration

GOMBAK, Feb 10– The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has assured safety and smooth traffic during the Thaipusam celebration tomorrow around Batu Caves.

The Deputy Director of Strategic Planning, Department of Crime Prevention and Community Safety, Datuk K. Kumaran, stated that police personnel and officers have been deployed to strategic locations to ensure the smooth running of the festival.

"We have stationed security personnel around the Batu Caves area, both inside and outside, to ensure the safety of visitors and smooth traffic flow.

"We also have officers in blue uniforms assigned to prevent motorcycle theft and other crimes, including fights," he said.

He made these statements while attending the 'Community Policing Thaneer Panthal' program at the Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple in Batu Caves.

Kumaran also advised the public to be cautious of pickpockets and encouraged them to seek assistance at the PDRM base within the temple area if they become victims of crime.

A total of 1,306 police officers from various contingents have been assigned from last Saturday until February 14 to ensure a peaceful and smooth Thaipusam celebration.
