SEOUL, Nov 26- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today held a meeting with corporate figures or ‘chaebol’ from leading companies in South Korea.
This is to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI) to Malaysia as well as to further strengthening trade relations between Malaysia and South Korea.
The Prime Minister held a series of meetings starting at 9am this morning with several major companies, including the Samsung Group, SK Nexilis Group, POSCO Group and Lotte International.
The discussions represent Malaysia’s efforts to attract high-impact investments from South Korea to Malaysia.
Chaebols generally have good relations with the South Korean government.
Support from the federal government for chaebol began after the Korean War, as a way to help rebuild the economy.
