PETRA delivers six completed projects to Johor, worth RM186.1 million

KLUANG, 12 January - The Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (PETRA) handed over six completed projects worth RM186.1 million to the Johor government.

Its Deputy Minister, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said cooperation between the state government and the residents is necessary to ensure that the planned project can be implemented and fully utilised.

"For that purpose, PETRA is actually making rounds to the states via its PETRA Squad to assess the latest situation.

This includes projects or programmes that have been implemented for both sectors including renewable energy (REE) and water," said Akmal Nasrullah to reporters, today.

Five projects under the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), namely the Bekok Dam Upgrading Project, the Upgrading of Mechanical and Electrical Infrastructure for Johor Flood Control, the Seri Menanti Laut Breakwater Reclamation Project in Muar, the Sungai Suloh Eco-Friendly Drainage System Upgrade in Batu Pahat as well as the construction of a U-shaped concrete structure from Sungai Batu Pahat to Pekan Semerah.

Another project is the Layang 2 Raw Water Transfer Project under the Water Supply Department (JBA).

The Federal Government, through PETRA, is always committed to the implementation of approved projects for the state of Johor, through the establishment of a Special Task Force Committee on Water Supply and Flood Mitigation in Johor.

Overall, Akmal Nasrullah said under the Fifth Rolling Plan (RP-5) of the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP), a total of 29 projects with a total cost of RM5.64 billion as well as an allocation of RM224.8 million for this year have been approved by the Federal Government, through PETRA, for Johor.
