New landmarks must benefit the people - PM

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim/ RTM

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 23- The development of new landmarks in the country should benefit the people and not just serve as mere symbols, stated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He emphasized that development projects should add value to the community, including organizing activities that involve those in need.

"The country can progress; landmarks and shopping malls can be upgraded. But we must always remember that they must benefit as many people as possible," he said during the opening ceremony of the newly revamped Alamanda today.

In other developments, the Prime Minister noted that Malaysia continues to attract global attention as a key destination for visits from world leaders.

He highlighted that rapid growth in technology, economic stability, and the capabilities of the people are the main factors driving international leaders to the country.

"We see good growth, high investments, with Malaysia becoming a hub for artificial intelligence (AI), data centers, and semiconductors.

"The visits from world leaders are non-stop, to the point where we have to adjust our program schedules.

"In the next month or two, many prominent leaders will visit, including President Xi Jinping of China and President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa.

This is because the world is beginning to recognize Malaysia’s capabilities, not just the government, but the entire population and workforce," he said.
