Johor JIM sends 131 foreign detainees back home

JOHOR BAHRU,Feb 24- A total of 131 foreign detainees from various countries were sent back to their home countries throughout this week, through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) 1 and 2 in Sepang, Selangor.

According to a statement on the Facebook page of Johor's Immigration Department (JIM), they were repatriated after completing their prison sentences for various offenses, in accordance with the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963.

The foreigners comprise 67 Myanmar nationals, 28 Bangladeshi nationals, 21 Thai nationals, 10 Pakistani nationals, four Indian nationals and one Ukrainian national.

All of them have been issued temporary travel documents to return to their country of origin through their respective country's embassies.

"They are also blacklisted in the Immigration Department System and are not allowed to re-enter the country within the specified period.

"The cost of the flight ticket is fully covered by their own savings and contributions from family members," the statement read.
