MRO for 10 ETS expected to be completed in fourth quarter of 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18- Level 4 Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) work on 10 Electric Train Sets (ETS) is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.

According to deputy minister of transport, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, the ministry is undertaking various other initiatives following the high demand from users for the ETS service.

"The government has newly acquired 10 train sets for ETS, which are anticipated to commence operations in the first quarter of 2025," he said in the Dewan Negara today.

"Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) also provides additional train services, particularly during festive seasons and school holidays, especially for the KL Sentral-Padang Besar route to meet the high demand from and to the northern region every year," he added.

As of last October, a total of 490,105 passengers utilized the ETS service involving the two stations in Arau and Padang Besar, Perlis.

He said this when replying to Senator Baharuddin Ahmad regarding the statistics of ETS train passengers this year, with a particular focus on the destination of Perlis; and the efforts to improve train services, especially during school holidays and festive seasons.
