NEW DELHI, August 21 - Malaysia needs to emulate India's progress in the digitisation technology sector.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's visit to India was seen a way to take advantage of this opportunity.
"We look at how India has developed, especially in the field of technology. That is something we need to emulate.
"So, we need to learn from India's success and also need to ask them to give us guidance", he told RTM here.
Yesterday, Gobind Singh and Foreign Minister, Dr S. Jaishankar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the Digital Technology Sector.
In addition, 7 MoUs in the sectors of foreign workers, tourism, public administration and medicine were also signed between Malaysia and India.
In the meantime, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's visit to India is also seen to be able to strengthen bilateral relations, especially those involving Malaysia-India trade.
"As a Malaysian, I feel amazed by this visit, especially because I got the attention and very clear direction from the Prime Minister of India. With this effort, we can further increase the trade value between the two countries", said businessman, Zulkifli Amin Mamat.
"A very historic visit for me because, as been mentioned by the Prime Minister, this is also a visit to his friend and I think that it holds a very important symbol", said Member of Parliament for Ledang, Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh when met by the media here.
The Prime Minister will conclude his official visit today by attending a meeting with Indian industry players and later meeting representatives of the Muslim faith and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.
