PUTRAJAYA, February 11 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today chaired a bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Perdana Putra Complex here.

The meeting discussed the developments in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) between Malaysia and Turkey, particularly in the sectors of trade and investment, defense, halal industry, energy, disaster management, health, science, and technology.

Both leaders also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, including Malaysia’s role as ASEAN Chair, the hosting of the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum by Turkiye, issues of Islamophobia, and the latest developments regarding the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

The meeting, which lasted approximately one hour, was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Cabinet members, and senior government officials.

Malaysia and Turkiye continue to maintain a close relationship that has developed over time, especially following the elevation of ties to the CSP level in July 2022.

As a Dialogue Partner in the ASEAN Sector since 2017, Turkiye plays a vital role in advancing ASEAN's economic priorities through the ASEAN-Turkiye Practical Cooperation Area (2024-2028), which serves as the main framework for strategic cooperation between both parties.
