JOHOR BAHRU, January 1- The Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) Arena Larkin Aquatic Centre has resumed operations as of January 1 after completing upgrades and replacing the pool floor in November.

State Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development, and Cooperatives Committee chairman, Mohd Hairi Mad Shah, announced that the facility had been closed since August 2024 due to contamination from rust and E. coli bacteria detected in July.

Monitoring conducted by the Health Department in December indicated safe levels of bacteria and chlorine, confirming the facility's safety for public use.

The centre will be open every day except Wednesdays, which are designated for thorough cleaning.

Operating hours are from 8.00 AM to 11.00 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, while on Fridays through Sundays, it closes at 9.00 PM.

The entrance fees are affordable, with charges ranging from RM4 to RM5 for children and RM8 to RM10 for adults, depending on the day.

The authorities are urging the public to follow guidelines and maintain cleanliness to avoid any health issues or contamination in the future.
