KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27– The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) uses the 2022 Poverty Line Income (PGK) with a threshold value of RM1,198 as a reference for the distribution of aid to the extreme poor since January this year.

Its Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, said assistance through the Social Welfare Department (JKM) was given based on individual qualifications and needs.

"However, PGK is not the only measure in considering welfare applications. Various other factors are also taken into account to ensure aid reaches those who deserve it," she said when answering a question from Muar Member of Parliament, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, in the Dewan Rakyat session, here.

Among those factors are family social support, dependent family members, chronic health problems, intensive care for the disabled, psychosocial aspects and other needs.

Nancy added that the revision and updating of the PGK 2022 was carried out jointly by the Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister's Department (ICU JPM) and Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) under the Ministry of Economy.
