Kelantan floods: The number of affected residents has increased

TANAH MERAH, December 30 - The number of flood-affected residents who were moved to a temporary relief center (PPS) in Kelantan showed a slight increase when a PPS was opened in Tanah Merah today.

The Social Welfare Department's (JKM) Disaster Info portal reports that as of 6.00 am, 882 victims from 267 families are now taking shelter in 19 PPS involving three affected districts, namely Tanah Merah, Kuala Krai and Machang.

"The largest number is in Tanah Merah which records 633 individuals from 208 families, taking shelter in 13 PPS.

"The number of evacuees in Kuala Krai and Machang remain at 165 and 84 respectively, sheltering in six PPS," JKM's portal stated.

Meanwhile, the Public Info flood website of the Dpartment of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) reported that Sungai Sokor in Kampung Sokor Tanah Merah exceeded the danger level of 22.84 meters compared to midnight.

Two rivers, namely Sungai Golok in Kampung Jenob Tanah Merah and Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang Pasir Mas, in the meantime, exceeded the warning level.
