JOHOR BAHRU, Dec 30- The Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) has allocated RM5.6 million to upgrade the wildlife detention center in the area, which is expected to be completed by September 2025.
Johor Bahru Mayor, Datuk Mohd Noorazam Osman, stated that this effort aims to ensure a comfortable urban environment and to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as rabies and parvo.
He mentioned that when stray dogs are captured, they will go through proper procedures and will not be mistreated.
This funding will benefit not only dogs but also other animals, as the current facility is too small to handle a large number of strays.
He made this statement after the MBJB Full Board Meeting at the MBJB Tower here.
As of November, a total of 2,692 stray dogs have been successfully captured, and approximately 616 complaints regarding stray dogs were received during the same period.
Meanwhile, 219 of these animals have been vaccinated and neutered through the Stray Dog Neutering Program Series 1 on October 29 and 30.
