KEMAMAN, March 21- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced a special Aidilfitri financial assistance of RM250 to teachers of the Quran and Fardu Ain (KAFA) classes, teachers of takmir, imams, bilals, tok siak, nojas, and marbuts nationwide.
He said the initiative was in appreciation of more than 70,000 recipients with a total allocation of RM17 million.
Payments will be made starting next week.
"(This afternoon) I announced the BKK Aidilfitri for civil servants and government retirees including pensioned and non-pensioned veterans. Tonight, I would like to announce additional assistance to KAFA teachers, imams, bilals, nojas and marbuts of RM250."
"This bonus is given to help celebrate Aidilfitri and reduce the burden of living costs during the fasting month," he said when speaking at the Terengganu State-Level Madani Breaking of Fasting Ceremony at the Sultan Ahmad Mosque, Chukai here tonight.
The ceremony was attended by about 1,500 invited guests.
Earlier, the Prime Minister announced an Aidilfitri BKK of RM500 to civil servants Grade 15 and below which will be paid starting next week.
The government also agreed to channel an Aidilfitri BKK of RM250 to all government retirees including pensioned and non-pensioned veterans, involving an allocation of up to RM900 million.
