SARIKEI, NOV 9- The construction project of Jalan Pasi leading to Tanjung Manis worth RM321 million is expected to be fully completed in March, next year.

Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this high-impact project will play an important role in connecting Sarikei, Bintangor, and surrounding areas with Tanjung Manis.

According to Uggah, this new road will reduce the travel distance between Sarikei and Tanjung Manis from 122 kilometers to 53 kilometers, greatly benefiting the local community in terms of travel time and cost.

"The stitching is the last step to mark the completion of the project the rest will be polishing up, which we hope, and I'm very confident with the work plan.

"The weather seems to be very kind today, fine weather here. So, there is no reason, why we will not celebrate in March 2025 on the completion of this bridge,” Uggah stated during the stitching ceremony for the bridge, here, on Friday (Nov 8).

He added that although this project was delayed due to COVID-19, almost all projects have now recovered and are running according to the set schedule.

Important bridge construction works along this route will be closely monitored to ensure they are completed on time, providing better access and economic opportunities to local residents.
