CAIRO, Nov 9- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is on an official visit to Egypt starting today until November 12th at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
His plane is expected to arrive at 6.30pm local time or 12.30am Malaysian time.
The Prime Minister will be officially welcomed by President Al-Sisi, followed by a bilateral meeting to discuss issues of mutual interest between Malaysia and Egypt.
Malaysia’s Ambassador to Egypt, Datuk Mohd Tarid Sufian, said the discussions were aimed at increasing cooperation in trade, defence, tourism, education and religious affairs.
"The most important thing is that the discussion will be focused on the exchange of views and the discussion of direction in areas of mutual interest, namely the issue of conflict in Palestine," said Mohd Tarid Sufian.
The two leaders are also scheduled to witness the exchange of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between Malaysia and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif
Datuk Seri Anwar will also inaugurate the locally produced Proton SAGA CKD and deliver a lecture at Al Azhar University.
