The JS-SEZ agreement to be signed next month

Special meeting to discuss the progress of the establishment of JS-SEZ

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9- The agreement to establish the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) is expected to be signed next month.

It is in conjunction with the 11th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat.

The matter was reached by the Joint Ministerial Committee for Iskandar Malaysia (JMCIM) which held a special meeting to discuss the progress of the establishment of JS-SEZ.

The committee's joint statement said that the organisational structure of the committee will also be improved, in an effort to support the goals and establishment of JS-SEZ.

It will also work towards reinforcing bilateral cooperation in other fields, such as transport and the environment.

The Committee also hopes to convene again in the first half of 2025, in order to maintain the positive momentum of bilateral cooperation.

The meeting was co-chaired by Economy Minister, Rafizi Ramli and Singapore’s Minister for National Development, Desmond Lee.

Also present were Johor’s Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Singapore’s Transport Minister, Chee Hong Tat and senior officials from both countries.
