KUALA LUMPUR, March 11- Social media influencer, Wee Chuan Chin or better known as Abe Wee, has been praised by netizens for his actions of respecting Azan (the call to prayer) and admitted that this practice was the result of being brought up by his parents.
Abe Wee stressed in a video that his family has always inculcated the importance of respecting other religions and cultures since he was a child.
The influencer is loved by his followers, simultaneously represents a reflection of the spirit of unity within the multi-racial society in Malaysia.
"From the beginning, Pok (Abe Wee's father) taught us all to be one family, to respect azan. This is a true story, even when playing badminton, we have to stop when we hear the azan," said Abe Wee.
"Stop (doing anything) to respect each other. Culture, race and religion, we have to respect. Joining the army, at the age 18. 42 years as a soldier, respecting the azan is part of the discipline of military culture," said Abe Wee's father,
former Commander of the Malaysian Army Rocket Artillery (TDM), Brigadier General Datuk Wee Han Siew.
For racial unity, no matter what race, we stop to respect the azan," his father added.
Social media users in general praised Abe Wee and his family for the continued digital content sharing of their daily lives which centers on the racial harmony theme.
"These people from one family really deserve to receive the unity figure award," commented @kakdayakorang2kejap.
"Respect to the family, Abe We. Even though they are Chinese, they still respect other religions. Thank you, Abe We, for exuding so much positive aura," said @nurieqa.

The video received more than 27,000 likes, 558 comments and 192 shares on the social media platform Instagram.
It is hoped that this small step will serve as an example for many more Malaysians to continue practicing the spirit of unity in their daily lives.
