KUALA LUMPUR, March 10– The implementation of the enforcement of drug price displays in private clinics and hospitals has been postponed until May 1, following an engagement session between the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) and the Private General Practitioner (GP) Group.
Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, said the postponement was made after considering several issues raised by the private GP group recently.
"There were a few issues raised, and we have had an engagement session with private GPs who requested a moratorium to delay this implementation.
"I understand why they want me to address Schedule 7 in Act 586, and I am committed to reviewing GP consultation fees, because it has not been reviewed for a long time," he said at a press conference after the Launching Ceremony of the 14th National Medical Assistant Day Celebration 2025 at Tunku Azizah Hospital, Kuala Lumpur.
In November 2024, Dr. Dzulkefly announced that the government would make it mandatory for all private healthcare facilities to display drug prices as part of efforts to increase transparency in treatment costs.
