KUALA LUMPUR, November 18– Factors such as household dependents and individual occupations will be considered in the allocation of RON95 fuel subsidies, according to Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Fuziah Salleh.
She explained that the indicators include the Basic Minimum Living Expenses (PAKW) and the Cost of Living Index (IKSH), developed by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).
"All aspects related to household expenses are taken into account. Regarding RON95, if targeted subsidies are implemented in the future, they will undoubtedly impact households that rely on RON95.
"For instance, if there are two cars, or if both husband and wife are working, or if there are young children in school, or university students, all these factors are included in calculating the cost of living indicators," she said.
Fuziah was responding to a supplementary question from Padang Rengas MP, Azahari Hasan, during a parliamentary session today.
