KOTA BHARU, February 19 – The Southeast Brigade General Operations Force (GOF) successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle out almost 88,000 coconuts after seizing two trailers at the Che Soh Store, Kampung Pulau Ular, Tumpat, here on Monday.

PGA Southeast Brigade Commander, Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said five local men aged between 26 and 43, consisting of the driver and attendant of the trailer who were believed to be transporting coconuts to neighbouring countries, were also arrested.

According to him, the arrest and seizure was carried out by members of the PGA 7 Battalion at about 12.30 pm through Op Taring Wawasan.

β€œThe results of the inspection of the trailer and store area found almost 88,000 coconuts without valid documents and purchase licenses,” he said in a statement.

Nik Ros Azhan said the coconuts and trailers seized were estimated to be worth RM2.13 million and the case is currently being investigated under the Federal Agricultural Marketing Board Act 1965.
