MASJID TANAH, Dec 6- Flood-affected residents, who have problems with motor vehicle licenses (LKM) or lost and damaged vehicle grants, do not require to replace the relevant documents.
Road Transport Department (JPJ) director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said this is because information such as the Malaysian driver's license (LMM), motor vehicle license (LKM) and Vehicle Ownership Certificate (VOC) have been digitised and are available on the MyJPJ application.
"If there is a loss of license or road tax it is not a problem now because it is the responsibility of the enforcement agency itself, JPJ or PDRM to determine whether the owner has a valid license or not, and there is no need to worry as anyone affected is not required to make a replacement.
"We are still responsible as the burden rests on the shoulders of the enforcement agency itself,” he said when met at the launch of the new JPJ Masjid Tanah branch, which was officiated by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
In the meantime, Datuk Aedy said that the opening of JPJ Masjid Tanah Branch can reduce thw congestion at the JPJ Bukit Katil by 10 to 20 percent.
He said that the opening of the Masjid Tanah JPJ branch was necessary because, through the JPJ mobile unit operating in that area for a year, it was found that the number of transactions received was very encouraging, amounting to RM2.5 million.
