KUALA LUMPUR, December 10 - The development of the nation’s economy must be aligned with the financial needs of its citizens, particularly concerning affordable housing.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that even if the economy succeeds and the industry progresses, it holds little value if the fundamental needs of the people, such as housing, are overlooked.
He highlighted that one of the primary challenges we face is the housing crisis. Major cities like Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Ipoh, and Johor Bahru are all tasked with ensuring they provide housing that is deemed suitable for a comfortable living for families.
He reiterated the importance of addressing this issue, stating that development cannot move forward while allowing inequality to persist.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that national progress should not solely focus on statistics but should prioritize the comfort and welfare of the population.
Furthermore, he called on all stakeholders, including the government, agencies, and the private sector, to collaborate in a comprehensive manner to tackle housing issues effectively.
