KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27- The success of RTM's news and current affairs division's radio news department can be attributed to a collaborative culture and genuine interest.
The section's English Unit celebrated a double achievement when editor Karmila Badri won The Best Radio Bulletin category, and presenter Peter Carlos grabbed The Best Radio News Presenter award.
Karmila regarded this win as a mutual triumph and attributed it to excellent teamwork.
"Alhamdulillah, I'm truly humbled, honored, and grateful to receive this recognition. I believe this award will drive me to carry on providing news bulletins at the highest level for RTM, guided by ethics and integrity, so that our listeners, the community, and the public at large, continue to receive the latest newsworthy, reliable, and verified information."
Peter Carlos
Peter, on the other hand, stated that this accolade recognizes his long-standing career as a radio and television news presenter, a position he has held since 2007.
"It is something that I like to do. It is to present the news, not read. I present the news. There are times when, depending on the story, depending on the news item, well, I have to make believe that I am in that situation, in that story, that I was there. Not going way overboard and screaming and things like that. No, just being in that situation. So you must know the news. You must know what you're going to present. You've got to feel it sometimes."
Each brought home RM5,000 in cash, and a trophy.
The ASA2024, themed ‘Kilauan Prestij, Citra Kegemilangan’, has received 1,860 nominations across three categories, namely 1,287 for television, 515 for radio, and 58 for new media.
RTM was honored last night with eleven television awards, fourteen radio awards, and one new media award.
