ALOR SETAR, March 22- Civil servants in Kedah welcomed the provision of Special Aidilfitri Financial Assistance (BKKA) by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which was described as a thoughtful and appropriate step ahead of the Hari Raya celebration.
The assistance of RM500 to civil servants and RM250 to government retirees is considered timely to ease the burden of festive preparation costs.
Director of the Kedah Education Department, Ismail Othman said that this provision reflects the recognition of civil servants' services and commitment to the country.
"This is a sign of appreciation and concern from the MADANI Government to all civil servants for their efforts and dedicated service in facilitating the management and administration of the government. At the very least, this special assistance can ease the burden ahead of Aidilfitri and make all the Muslim staff happy," he said when met by RTM.
Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) staff member, Mohd Nadzir Malek Feroz described the aid as a meaningful assistance for rural civil servants.
"Thank you to the government for willingly providing raya money to us, civil servants. We can now return to our villages with a clear peace of mind," he said.
For Murshidah Idris, the assistance not only helps with preparation expenses, but can also be channeled to the needs of the children.
“This bonus can help a little bit with our Raya preparations, reduce our burden and give Raya money for our school-going children… so thank you,” she said.
A teacher, Khamarul Nizam Ahmad also expressed his appreciation for the assistance which can cover basic expenses in conjunction with Raya.
“Thank you to the Malaysian Government, especially our Prime Minister who show his concern. This Raya bonus of RM500 helps us buy Raya clothes, go back to our hometown, pay tolls and fuel,” he said.
