BATU PAHAT, Dec 22- A young girl died after the motorcycle she was on with her father and siblings collided with a lorry on Jalan Kampung Sungai Ayam, here, yesterday morning.
Batu Pahat district police chief, ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, in a statement said the victim, Afiqah Shaurah Qamarul Ariffin, 4, died at the scene as a result of severe head trauma.
"The accident is believed to have occurred when a local man, 37, was riding a motorcycle with his three daughters aged four, seven and eight years old respectively from the direction of Senggarang heading towards Minyak Beku, here," he said in the statement.
"Upon arrival at the scene, police found a lorry driven by a local man, 44, had exited a junction without giving right of way first to the motorcycle that was travelling straight on the road," he said.
He said the two other children, aged seven and eight, suffered minor hand and leg injuries, while their father sustained injuries to his face and chest. They are all receiving treatment at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital, here.
"The lorry driver and his attendant escaped injury," he said.
"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving," he added.
