Anwar meets Sultan of Brunei at Istana Nurul Iman in conjunction with ACL

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, August 26 - The Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has agreed to meet the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Nurul Iman, in conjunction with the 25th Annual Leaders' Conference (ACL) here.

Datuk Seri Anwar arrived at Istana Nurul Iman at 11.00 this morning.

The Prime Minister and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah held a four-point meeting, to discuss various issues, including reviewing the progress of bilateral cooperation and related issues.

The two leaders then witnessed the signing of three memorandums of understanding (MoU) between Malaysia and Brunei.

Among them, the MoU involves land demarcation and transport cooperation.

The discussion was to further strengthen the special relationship and multilateral cooperation between the two countries supported by the institution of the Malay Sultanate and other commonalities such as culture, language and heritage.

Last year, Brunei was Malaysia's 30th largest trading partner and the sixth largest among ASEAN member countries with a trade volume of RM9.31 billion.
