SETIU, Dec 31- A man died while his friend is seriously injured in an accident involving two vehicles last night.

The incident happened at about 8.25 pm ​​at Kilometer 63 of Jalan Kota Bharu-Kuala Terengganu near Chalok Kedai Setiu.

Setiu District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Zain Mat Dris said the accident involved a Proton-type vehicle with a four-wheel drive vehicle.

Initial investigation found that the accident happened when a vehicle driven by Muhammad Hadiq Haiqal Herman, 23, abruptly came out of the junction of his house in Kampung Rahmat Felda Chalok to move on to the main road.

Meanwhile, the victim Mohd Fairul Azwa Ramli, 34, who was traveling from Bandar Permaisuri to Kuala Terengganu on a straight route, did not have time to avoid hitting the other vehicle.

Mohd Fairul Azwa was confirmed dead at the scene by the assistant medical officer on duty while his friend Nor Azmi Daud, 46, suffered serious injuries.

The victim's body was sent to Hospital Setiu's Forensic Unit for an autopsy while the injured victim was also sent to the same hospital for treatment.

The driver and passenger of the four-wheel drive did not suffer any injuries.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
