KOTA BHARU, January 5- A total of 79 orang asli students from two schools in Gua Musang, Kelantan received donations of school supplies in conjunction with the Back to School Shopping Program.

The items were donated by a welfare organisation known as Pertubuhan Anak Yatim Miskin Kelantan (PAYATIM) to the students of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kuala Lah National School and SK Pasir Linggi, as well as five orphan students from SK Bunut Payong here.

The President of PAYATIM, Mhd. Nor Jusoh said that the school assistance program was an effort to be kind to the local community, in addition to encouraging the Orang Asli community to send their children to school.

"We allocated RM350 for each person. But, we will see as a whole because maybe Mydin will give us a discount.

"However, with the aid we provide, they (students) can receive two pairs of clothes, complete with a school bag, as well as a trousers for sports and so on," he told reporters this at the Back To School Shopping Program for Orang Asli Students from SK Kuala Lah and SK Pasir Linggi at a supermarket here.

Commenting further, he said, all the students were also given a new experience of riding the train to Wakaf Bharu, Tumpat and riding the bus to the supermarket involved.

From 2019 until now, his organisation has helped more than 500 Orang Asli communities with various donations, including clothes and food.

Meanwhile, for the students, the help they received made them more eager to return to school.

"I feel happy buying school clothes, shoes and various school items," said student, Mohamad Hairin Along.

"Thank you for the school clothes. I am happy and excited to go to school," said student Vaniza Oliviana Ahmad Faizal.
