SELANGOR, Oct 28- Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Malaysia (YAPEIM) channelled aid amounting to RM2.34 million to 2,340 new students admitted to educational institutions from Asnaf and B40 families through the Bantuan Didik MADANI program.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr. Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said that religious agencies are always concerned about challenges faced by the community through the distribution of zakat money, including eliminating extreme poverty through education.
He said this after attending the Handover Ceremony of YAPEIM's Bantuan Didik Madani to 20 Public Universities in Selangor.
Each student received an allocation of RM1,000 to help ease their burden of paying tuition fees.
From 1985 to June 2024, YAPEIM has distributed an allocation of RM703 million to 10 million beneficiaries nationwide.
The initiatives involved are based on the three pillars of YAPEIM's establishment, namely Islamic economic development, education and social development, which include programmes such as YAPEIM Didik, YAPEIM Prihatin and YAPEIM Niaga.
