KUALA LUMPUR, August 6 - The National Month & Flying the Jalur Gemilang campaign were launched to cultivate patriotism as a symbol of solidarity for the nation’s prosperity.
The Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) director Datuk Mohd Ajib Ismail said the aim of the programme is to ignite the spirits of unity and love for the country expressed through waving the Jalur Gemilang.
“It is to nurture the spirit of independence among the JAWI staff and secondly to understand the message conveyed in a context where we implemented Malaysia MADANI and al-Falah transformation policies. But today, we will go out to make success and strive to make our department, JAWI, as an example together with other agencies,” Datuk Mohd Ajib Ismail said at the launch of the National Month & Flying the Jalur Gemilang, here.
At the ceremony, the installation of Jalur Gemilang on the department’s official vehicles including hearse vans, JAWI Food Bank lorries and Black Maria lorries, Enforcement Division was also completed, as well as a symbolic release of pigeons.
Other than the Kibar Jalur Gemilang campaign at the Kuala Lumpur Islamic Centre Complex, mosques and surau as well as Islamic educational institutions, schools under JAWI supervision, mosques and surau around the Federal Territories will hold various programme such as Yasin recital and Doa Selamat, forum and religious talks and a special Friday sermon themed on nationhood in conjunction with National Day.
In a different ceremony, The Federal Territory Mosque received a donation of a 15-seater van worth RM96,000 from the Sahabat Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan association for use in mosque activities.
The donation can help to boost the mosque’s outreach programme and thus provide benefits to nearby parishioners.
