KANGAR, February 28– Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has donated its business zakat for the year 2023, amounting to RM1 million, to the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs).
The donation was presented in a ceremony at the Kampung Binjai Jamek Mosque in Utan Aji.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Yang DiPertua of MAIPs graciously accepted the symbolic check from TNB's Acting Chief Strategy and Business Officer, Ir. Dr. Mohamad Fadzil Mohd Siam, who represented the company.
In addition to the zakat contribution, TNB also made a donation of RM3,000 to the Kampung Binjai Jamek Mosque.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra expressed his gratitude to TNB, emphasizing that while the payment of zakat has become a regular practice, it holds significant value in the development of the ummah, state, and country. His Majesty also expressed his hopes for the continued strong relationship between TNB and Perlis, ensuring lasting benefits for the people and furthering the state's progress toward greater excellence and competitiveness.
During the same event, MAIPs also distributed Zakat Contributions totaling RM105,000 to 150 recipients from the local communities of Kampung Binjai and Kampung Sentua. The contributions were presented by His Majesty.
The ceremony was attended by the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr. Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, her second daughter, Hajah Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail, the General Manager of TNB Perlis and Kedah, Wan Ishak Soed, and the Head of Retail of TNB Perlis, Azian Alias.
