PARIT BUNTAR, September 5 - An Industrial Training Institute (ILP) will be established in Kerian, Perak to fulfil the needs of Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park (KIGIP).

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the institute will be managed by SD Guthrie Berhad as the project developer.

“The establishment of the industrial training institute aims to produce trained talents that are suitable and match the needs of KIGIP,” he said to reporters at the Rumah Perakku Phase 1 key handovers to 27 recipients and the groundbreaking ceremony of Rumah Perakku Phase 2 here, today.

Rumah Perakku Phase 1 which has been completed involves 150 housing units and is sold at prices starting from RM95,000, after subsidy by the Perak Property Housing Authority (LPHP).

Phase 2, on the other hand, will involve the construction of 100 additional housing units which are expected to be completed in 2026.

Meanwhile, Saarani confirmed that West Ipoh Span Expressway (WISE) has signed a concession agreement for the construction of the highway connecting Gopeng-Kuala Kangsar after the terms of the agreement were finalised with the Public Private Partnership Unit (UKAS) last July.

The highway, which is much needed as an alternative route to the often congested Menora Tunnel, will begin construction this year, he said.
