Thaipusam 2025: More than 1.5 million devotees expect to come to Penang

GEORGETOWN, Feb 2- Penang is expected to receive more than 1.5 million Hindu devotees in conjunction with the Thaipusam celebration on February 11th.

Chairman of the Penang Hindu Endowments Board (LWHPP), RSN Rayer said that all the detailed preparations had been carried out by all parties involved, particularly the temple and the festival committee.

LWHPP in collaboration with Digital Penang introduced a tracking application on the Golden Chariot to make it easier for the public to know its movement and position.

"Last year, I was made to understand that we reached approximately 1 million; this year maybe more, not only from Malaysia but there are people from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and other place,s considering it is a school holiday", he said when met by RTM here.

The "Pathrikai & Chariot Tracker" app, introduced last year, has been improved and enhanced with additional features to facilitate Hindu devotees plan their prayers at any nearby temples.

The Golden Chariot will move from the Maha Mariaman Temple on Lebuh Queen at 10 am the day before Thaipusam.

It will then arrive at Sri Arulmigu Balathandayuthabani Temple the following day and move back to Maha Mariaman temple on February 12th before arriving on February 13th.
